Teacher Interview Questions
These are questions about your classroom library.

       Where do you get the materials you use in your classroom library?  
           Chairs, benches and rugs I purchase at yard sales and redo for my Library
The majority of my books I have found at yard sales and thrift shops.  I also use Scholastic Book class orders and use the bonus points to get more books.

    What is the reading program that your school uses?  
           Journeys, Two Peas in a Pod (Phonemic Awareness), next year we will start Saxon Phonics
  

   What are your rules for checking books out? Care? Procedures? Checkout system?        None ….honor system


   Do you allow your students to take their books home or keep them in class?
      Allowed to take home

   What is your procedure for the students if you allow them to take their books home? 
          Please return in same condition.


   What types of books do you have in your library? Are they leveled? 
          All genres and are leveled by AR


    What online catalogs or stores do you use to buy books and classroom resources?             Really Good Stuff, Lake Shore…I prefer to see the items before purchasing.


    How do you organize the books in your library (ex. genre, author, level)? 
          AR level


   Do you invite parents to read to the students or be a part of your literacy program in any way?  
         We ask that they read and listen to their child read each night.


   When are your students allowed to use your classroom library? 
         When work is completed and they also have a center rotation.


   Any ideas you have for first time teachers to use for a classroom library? 
         Start collecting books now and keep your eyes out for “seating” ideas.  Check    out other teacher’s libraries.
